Young Republican Claims Oral Sex He Performed On Sleeping Man Was Consensual

Glenn Murphy resigned from the Young Republicans because he was caught giving oral sex to a man. He was caught when the man woke up. But now Glenn Murphy has an excuse. . .

Let's see, the guy wakes up and finds Glenn Murphy sexually assaulting him with his lips. Let's remember a similar incident happened in 1988. So, I figure Murphy's defense is going to involve the usual Republican whiny excuses, that he's got an alcohol problem, or was sexually abused as a youngster. Nope, Glenn Murphy is actually going to complain that his accuser consented to the sexual activity. From RawStory:

Later, Murphy's attorney, Larry O. Wilder, issued a statement to Taking Down Words acknowledging a sexual encounter between his client and the complainant, claiming it was consensual. On behalf of Murphy, Wilder wrote, in part:

On behalf of Mr. Murphy I would point out several things:

1. Mr. Murphy has not been arrested nor has he been charged with a crime.

2. Mr. Murphy contends that the events that took place that evening were as between two consenting adults.

Here's another quote from the Louisville Courier-Journal (Louisville is just across the river from Jeffersonville, IN, where the alleged incident happened), whereby Wilder, Murphy's lawyer, repeats the "consensual" defense, but also hints at nefarious political motives:

But Larry Wilder, Murphy's lawyer, said he had discussed the report with Rodden and the prosecutor's office.

"It is Mr. Murphy's position that no crime occurred," Wilder said. "It is his position that what occurred, occurred between two consenting adults."

Wilder also said such reports are supposed to be kept confidential by police until a decision has been made by prosecutors about whether to file charges. He said he was disappointed that something of such a sensitive nature had been leaked in "a vindictive political process."

Of all the improbable and whiny excuses.

Nobody is calling attention to the fact that Glenn Murphy is not young. He had a previous incident in 1988, according to RawStory and PageOneQ. Not an incident as a juvenile, I presume, or we wouldn't know about it, given the shield laws (That certainly calls into question the notion that Glenn Murphy is a mere babe at 33 years old, as stated on the San Francisco Bay Times). So do the math. Glenn Murphy is at least 40 years old, and given serial incidents of assaulting young men with his lips while they are asleep, he appears to be a predator. Republicans put a middle-aged sexual predator in charge of the Young Republicans. Sure, the Young Republicans aren't underage or anything, but that can't look good. Yet this fact simply isn't coming out in the media. I'm thinking the Republicans ought to put this guy into the Foley Zone, but I don't expect them to respond to this in a smart way.

Why wasn't his excuse "mouth-on-dick" disease, as Ann Rostow calls it in the San Francisco Bay Times.
